Caring for Your Canvas: Light, Dust and Varnish

Light, humidity and dusting — simple studio habits that keep your canvas colours vivid for decades.

Caring for Your Canvas: Light, Dust and Varnish

Sunlight is the quiet killer of colour. Hang treasured works away from direct south-facing windows, or fit UV-filtering glazing for pieces in bright rooms. Keep canvases clear of radiators and steamy bathrooms — stable, dry air keeps stretchers taut and varnish clear.

Dust with a dry, soft brush once a season and never spray cleaner directly on the surface. For framed prints under glass, a lightly damp microfibre cloth on the glass only is enough.

Every Art Canvas Studio original arrives varnished and signed on the back, with a care card in the crate so your wall keeps its glow for decades.
