Our story

Painted here, hung everywhere

Art Canvas Studio began as a two-easel storefront in Portland's Alberta district. Nine years on we are still what we were on day one: painters who sell the work we make, and the brushes we make it with.

Every canvas in this shop passed across our own studio tables. We stretch, prime, paint, varnish and frame under one roof — so when you hover a painting and see it on a gallery wall, that is exactly how it arrives at your door.

The Studio Essentials shelf holds no souvenirs — only the brushes, pigments and palettes our resident artists reach for daily. If a wash brush sheds on our tables, it never reaches yours.

Shipping & care

How is my painting packed?

Canvases travel in double-walled crates with corner guards; framed prints get glass-mask film and foam bracing. Every parcel is tracked and insured, and orders over $75 ship free.

What if it doesn't suit my wall?

Live with it for 30 days. If the piece isn't right, return it in its original packing for a full refund — we'll even cover return postage on damaged arrivals.

How do I care for an original canvas?

Hang out of prolonged direct sunlight, dust with a dry soft cloth, and never use water or solvents on the surface. Your varnish layer protects the rest.

Questions, answered

Are the paintings one of a kind?

Original canvases are single pieces, signed and dated. Framed prints are small open editions on archival paper.

Do frames and hardware come included?

Yes — every wall piece arrives with its frame (where shown), mounted hardware, wall spacers and a hanging guide.

Can I visit the studio?

Please do. We're at 48 Rosewater Lane, Portland — open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm. Write via the contact page for private viewings.

Do you take commissions?

A few each season. Send wall dimensions, photos of the room and the palette you love through the contact form, and we'll reply within three working days.
